Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services:

Our rehabilitation therapy team’s focus is to give guidance, promote independence, optimize abilities, and facilitate return to highest level of functioning.

Physical Therapy:

Physical therapy is an individually designed treatment plan to improve functional mobility, coordination, balance, strength, endurance and joint flexibility. Some of the techniques employed at our facility include gait and postural evaluation/training, balance/flexibility, coordination, therapeutic exercise, and pre-prosthetic management. We utilize state of the art modalities to increase function, and reduce pain/edema. Our goal at Carmel Hills is education and training thus enabling an independent and active lifestyle as possible.

Occupational Therapy:

Occupational therapy helps to enable residents to live life to their fullest in numerous ways, from helping short term residents regain skills needed to return home to enhancing lives of long term residents. Specific treatment plans include addressing upper body strengthening, self care (bathing, dressing, homemaking, feeding, money management), energy conservation techniques, adaptive equipment training, fine motor coordination, environmental adaptations, and orthotics fabrication.

Speech/Language Pathologist:

A Speech/Language pathologist may work with residents who have any type of communication or cognitive problem as a result of illness or accident. These may include problems with speaking, listening, thinking, reading, writing, attention/memory, problem solving, sequencing, memory, time management. A Speech/Language pathologist may also evaluate and develop a dysphagia (swallowing) management program to improve or manage individuals who has difficulty with chewing or swallowing foods and/or liquids. We are pleased to offer Vital Stim and NMES as a means to further improve swallowing function.

Our rehabilitation team can also provide treatment for those with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. We focus on capabilities: what that individual can do and develop approaches to give them opportunities to be successful in occupational based activities (using Allen Cognitive Levels)

We offer a comprehensive wound program that includes care of wound vacs, surgical incisions and other complex wounds.
